Tour the Musical World…

Don’t miss our next magical musical performance, featuring world-class guitarist, harp-guitarist and composer, Muriel Anderson. This will mark her fourth appearance at The Pickin’ Parlor.

This time around, Muriel is putting on a completely unique, interactive concert experience. Performing on her 20-string harp-guitar, Muriel Anderson fearlessly plays music from whatever countries you’d like to visit! Her arrangements and compositions capture the essence and traditions of each place, and she sings in up to 10 languages. You’ll travel with her on her sailing adventures and around the world through the music, and each audience member will receive a “guitar passport book” to record how many countries you have visited by the end of the show.

The first woman to win the National Fingerstyle Championship, Muriel was named as one of the top 50 guitarists of all time by Guitar Player Magazine and recently listed as one of the top 10 women guitarists. Yet it is her gentle sense of humor and uplifting melodies that leave her audience smiling. For those of you who may not be familiar with her work, Muriel was the first female artist to win the National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship, and has performed with many of the world’s guitar greats including Chet Atkins, Les Paul, Victor Wooten and Tommy Emmanuel. She is also a noted recording artist, with her CD, Nightlight Daylight, chosen as one of the top ten recordings of the decade by Guitar Player Magazine.

Muriel fell in love with the guitar at an early age and learned every style available to her, beginning with folk, bluegrass and jazz. She received a degree in music from DePaul University and went on to study with classical virtuoso Christopher Parkening and with Nashville legend Chet Atkins. Books of her original music include “New Classics for Guitar and Cello” and her works have been performed by the Nashville Chamber Orchestra and Chicago’s Vox Caelestis among others. She is also founder of the Music for Life Alliance charity and Muriel Anderson’s All Star Guitar Night®. Join us for another memorable evening of live music in the Pickin’ Parlor….and be sure to bring your family and friends!

Just one hell of a great player …a great personality and what I like is the touch that Muriel has on the guitar, the way she plays it like we all wish to play. …Les Paul
